The increased capacity of plant roots for water and nutrient uptake from the soil when colonized by

Endomycorrhizal fungi is the main mechanism in improved plant performance. This behavior is

particularly evident with soil nutrients that are more immobile such as phosphorus, zinc and copper.

Improved phosporus nutrition when colonized with these fungi has been demonstrated for hundred of cultivated

plants.

    About 90% of the world’s plant species form symbiotic relationships with beneficial fungi that colonize plant roots, and promote bi-directional nutrient movement where nutrients and water move to the plant and the plant photosynthetic process flows to the fungal network.
